JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- When it comes to New Jersey's fight with New York over Ellis Island, the Garden State can be excused for having a chip on its shoulder.
After all, New Jerseyans are convinced that Cooperstown stole the title ``Birthplace of Baseball'' from its rightful owner, Hoboken. And the football team playing in East Rutherford still insists on calling itself the New York Giants.
But New Jersey is putting its foot down when it comes to which state owns the island famed for processing 16 million immigrants from 1892-1924.
