The City Council has taken its first action to upgrade the Saratoga Springs City Center and keep it financially viable by approving a conceptual plan that will keep the convention center a mainstay of the city's tourism industry.

The city center cost approximately $4.9 million to construct. In its 14 years, it has hosted more than 1.25 million visitors who have spent approximately $132.3 million in stores, shops, hotels and restaurants, generating $9,261,000 in sales tax, according to City Center Authority Chairman Michael J. Toohey.
