When Mary Higgins Clark, the country's leading mystery tale spinner, writes one of her suspense novels, she never resorts to sex or violence.
``I think it's much scarier to hear footsteps behind you than to use violence,'' said Clark, who will make a book-signing debut in Albany today. ``For instance, you never see sex in Jane Eyre's books and they are still very romantic.''
Earlier last week, Clark talked about how she writes in a phone interview from her Manhattan pied-a-terre that overlooks Central Park South, one of three homes she keeps.
