SCHENECTADY -- Giuseppe Verdi's opera ``Aida'' is the grandest of grand operas.
It provides an opportunity in outdoor theaters like the bats of Caracalla in Italy for a veritable Noah's Ark of elephants, camels, lions, tigers and bears in the Triumphal Scene, when Egyptian hero Radames returns victorious from a great battle against the Ethiopians.
Even indoors, ``Aida'' producers usually opt for opulence and star casting when they can.
So, what's a modest-sized opera company like the New Bulgarian Opera, founded in 1990 and on its debut tour of North America, doing with a modest-sized road ...
