Capital Region nursing homes can count on two certainties as the 21st century approaches: The aging of America will guarantee them a steady stream of people who need long-term care, and the battle for government funding will become a perennial uncertainty.
``Everyone's wondering what's going to happen with Medicaid and Medicare,'' said Robert J. Lynch, executive director of the 420-bed Albany County Nursing Home in Colonie. ``And it ain't going to get any better.''
