No snow to start, then a dry spring, a hot summer, drought, a wet autumn and toward the end a lot of snow. A year has come and gone, but its quirky and sometimes dangerous weather will be remembered.
It started with worried skiers.
The warmth of Jan. 14 broke a 63-year-old record for that date: 59. That was followed by records on Jan. 15 and 16, when the mercury climbed to 65 and 62, respectively. The first month of 1995 averaged 32, 12 degrees higher than normal.
Only 3.9 inches of snow fell at the Albany Airport. Normal accumulation for January is 27 inches, and January 1994 saw 42 inches.
