With winter here, many people are facing dry skin and seeking remedies to prevent it, only to find they have an allergic reaction or irritation from a particular cosmetic or unguent.
Even products that are touted as natural can contain ingredients and preservatives that may cause irritation.
In 1990, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration received about 100 reports of adverse reactions to cosmetics.
