ALBANY Music director David Alan Miller finished the first half of the 1995-96 Albany Symphony Orchestra season in the Palace Theatre on Saturday night. Miller brought a nosegay of four German Romantic orchestra pieces. Flowers in a small bouquet must be discreet, neither too colorful, too pungent nor too dramatic, so as not to overwhelm the delicacy of it all.
Miller lacked his usual sharp-edged focus in music that is neither inherently exciting nor overtly dramatic.
