Total U.S. mail order sales hit $237.19 billion in 1993, up 7 percent over 1992, according to Arnold Fishman, president of Marketing Logistics and author of "The Annual Guide to Mail Order Sales."(*) Consumer mail order sales rang in at $118.97 billion or 50 percent of the total. Business-to-business mail order accounted for 29 percent of the total with $67.73 billion in sales and charitable accounted for the remaining 21 percent at $50.49 billion.
