Jan. 10--Santa Clara's city council Tuesday voted unanimously to conduct a six-month feasibility study with the San Francisco 49ers on construction of a new stadium near Great America, following a packed public hearing that was three parts cheerleading and one part caution. No one knows yet the exact form the stadium study will take or how much it will cost; the city manager's office, for example, will return to the council Feb. 6 with recommendations for who in city government should sit on Santa Clara's side of the negotiating table.
