EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Electricite de France (EDF) has purchased a second Pratt & Whitney Power Systems' FT8(R) MOBILEPAC(TM) unit. Pratt & Whitney is a division of United Technologies Corporation .
Following the purchase of a MOBILEPAC unit in early 2006, EDF has exercised its option for an additional unit to ensure they have an adequate emergency / backup power capability for the French island network. EDF will use its MOBILEPAC units to support power needs in Corsica, La Reunion, Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Guyane (French Guiana) on a rotating basis.
