Regarding feeding a family for $50 per week: here is a problem I can relate to! While I'm a suburban gardener, not a full-time homesteader, stretching the meal budget is one issue that transcends those differences. I have several suggestions:
1. Make sure your chickens and rabbits are really producing for you. Cull any non-productive stock. And make sure you are feeding them economically. No point in buying expensive prepared feeds when kitchen or garden scraps may suffice.
2. When money gets tight, liquor and soda are the first thing to get erased from the grocery list. Are you a smoker? Too many ...
