TROY -- Helen Farrell Slavin, 99, of Hallmark Nursing Home, formerly of Sixth Avenue and Lillian Lane, died Friday, October 1, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital. Born in and a lifelong resident of Troy, she was the daughter of the late John J. Farrell and Helen Holmes Farrell and wife of the late Thomas B. Slavin who died December 3, 1977. Mrs. Slavin was a homemaker most of her life. She was a thirty year volunteer for the American Red Cross as a nurse's aide at St. Mary's Hospital, Troy and VA Medical Center, Albany, she started in January 1942 during World War II.
