Jan. 11--"Pan's Labyrinth" is a unique mixture of fantasy, horror and political drama executed with such great technical assurance and continuous suspense that it is breaking out of urban arthouses and into suburban multiplex theaters.
In an age of formulaic movies, Mexican filmmaker Guillermo Del Toro has created something that is almost impossible to categorize but is perhaps best described as an adult fairy tale.
