Jan. 12--ALBANY -- On what would have been his 250th birthday, Alexander Hamilton was a forgotten figure in the city that helped provide the political juice that made him a Founding Father. On Thursday, Schuyler Mansion was shuttered for the winter. Here, in the formal parlor overlooking the Hudson, Hamilton married Elizabeth Schuyler, daughter of Gen. Philip Schuyler in 1780. It will reopen to the public in April. The state historic site draws just 6,000 visitors annually. Gen. Philip Schuyler was a Revolutionary War hero and one of New York's first two U.S. senators.
