Keith Lockhart, conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra, loves different kinds of music, whatever the source. He's just commissioned a new concerto for orchestra by the American composer Christopher Rouse; flip through the CDs in his car, however, and you'll find the latest album by the Dixie Chicks.
That kind of wide-ranging enthusiasm is what makes it work for Lockhart and the audiences who flock to sold-out performances by the Boston Pops.
