Genetic engineering of seeds and plants is an ecological disaster waiting to happen. We should not support any legislative plans that may perpetuate this kind of genetic engineering. I support Assemblyman John J. McEneny, D-Albany, in his pursuit of placing a five-year moratorium on the use of genetic engineering in New York.
Genetic engineering is not the purported panacea for producing improved crop production or a solution to halt world starvation. Recent information clearly suggests that it is hazardous to our health.
