ALBANY -- Wild fluctuations in the stock market show the state's continuing dependence on Wall Street and how tenuous New York's economic improvement could prove to be, according to some politicians and economists.
Despite some success in diversifying the state's economy, Wall Street prosperity to a large extent still governs the well-being of the state's economy, they argue.
``It's still Wall Street,'' New York City Council Speaker Peter Vallone, a Democrat who wants to be New York City's next mayor, said.
