Don't let this book's simple title deceive you. Frank N. Wilner, the Association of American Railroads' assistant vice president-communications, has faithfully and painstakingly documented Amtrak's development, from the day it inherited a largely decrepit fleet of rolling stock fight through to its recent triumphs and current troubles. Perhaps a more descriptive title would be, "Everything you've always wanted to know about Amtrak, but didn't know enough to ask."
