DEAR HELOISE: Do you have a recipe for mock apple pie made with crackers? I made it once for my brother, who had a thing for apple pie, his favorite. He ate two slices and thought it was the real thing.

MOCK APPLE PIE 2 cups water 1 1/4 cups sugar 2 teaspoons cream of tartar 20 whole soda crackers
