SKOPJE, Macedonia -- The U.S. government plans to finance an extensive political advertising and lobbying campaign in Macedonia to secure parliamentary passage of a peace deal that would expand the rights of the ethnic Albanian minority, sources said.

The campaign, which could be launched in the next few days with radio spots, will be coordinated with the office of Macedonia's president, Boris Trajkovski.

If Parliament fails to ratify the agreement, Macedonia could slip back into war while NATO troops are present.
