``I got one,'' Bonnie McKenzie exclaimed as a smallmouth bass rocketed upward after getting stung by the popper's hook. ``What do I do?''
It's fun to see a kid catch that first fish on fly tackle, but it is even more fun watching an adult do it. As the smallmouth finished its twists and turns, and finally was landed and released, an odyssey of sorts was fulfilled.
It all started this winter, back at the Northeast Outdoor Show, when Bonnie, my longtime companion, declared that she wanted to learn how to fly-fish. After a couple of quick casting lessons, it was off to Schoharie Creek for the real thing.
