When Wal-Mart Stores Inc. opens its first two Capital Region supercenters on the same day later this month, competing supermarket chains will be ready for battle.
A new Wal-Mart Supercenter, which features a full line of both general merchandise and grocery items, will open in Halfmoon on Wednesday, July 18, the same day that the Wilton Wal-Mart plans to open its new grocery store section. A supercenter in Glenville is under construction, and one in Bethlehem is undergoing the approval process.
The supercenters will be a welcome option for some consumers. Just the grocery section of stores will top out ...
