CLEARWATER, Fla., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Eckerd Corporation (NYSE: ECK) announced today that an agreement has been reached to acquire the drug store operations of Drug-Sav Discount Drug Stores, a 13 unit drug store chain headquartered in Tyler, Texas. As part of the transaction, Eckerd will acquire three Drug-Sav leased locations which will be operated as Eckerd drug stores and the inventory and prescription files from an additional 10 Drug-Sav locations. Those 10 Drug-Sav locations will be closed by the Drug-Sav company. Eckerd currently operates 481 retail drug stores in Texas. The company did not disclose terms of the agreement.
