Allergy shots cut pollen reactions Allergy shots to protect against grass pollen allergies can reduce hay fever symptoms and cut down on the amount of medication allergy sufferers need during peak pollen times. A study published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology reports on the results of an experiment on 44 patients with severe summer hay fever and seasonal asthma triggered by grass pollens. Half the patients received allergy shots and half received shots containing no medication. They received monthly shots for two years.
