Troy -- Thomas F. Slavin, Sr., 82, of Lillian Lane, died suddenly Friday, January 5, 2001, at home. Born and raised in Troy, he was the son of the late Thomas B. Slavin and Helen Farrell Slavin, and the husband of Lillian Flanigan Slavin for 56 years. A former resident of Poestenkill for 42 years, he returned to Troy in 1992. Mr. Slavin was a 1937 graduate of LaSalle Institute in Troy and later attended Siena College. He was U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacific Theatre as a pharmacist's mate, first class from 1942-1945. Mr. Slavin worked as a papermaker for John A. Manning Paper Company in Green Island for 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a life ...
