Walter Becker is in a hurry; he's late to drop his kids off with their mother. It's a little thing, but it speaks volumes about how his life has changed in the intervening decade between the first and second comings of Steely Dan.
Once, Becker, 44, was that cliche, a live-for-today rock star, hellbent on self-destruction via alcohol and drugs. Today? He's a father of two with his first solo album (``11 Tracks of Whack'') due to hit stores in September. Even better, the bassist reunited last year with the other half of Steely Dan, singer and keyboardist Donald Fagen. They're on the road.
