I think it has something to do with the color, or maybe it's the texture, but whatever the reason, I can't bear to eat split pea soup. It's a shame, too, because I can honestly say the stuff tastes just fine.

I've had this aversion for no good reason as long as I can remember. I turned up my little nose at it regularly when I was a child, refusing to even take a taste. It doesn't smell bad, like liver. In fact, pea soup has a homey, vegetive scent. It just looks like, well, we won't go there but you know.
