The Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs won't play baseball next year, and their eight-year relationship with the Capital Region is probably over, an executive for the independent minor-league franchise said Friday.
Co-owner Edward J. Batta said that financial problems have forced the Diamond Dogs, who played their home games at Heritage Park in Colonie, to suspend operations for the 2003 season.
``At the expense of being trite, it's a dream gone down the toilet,'' Batta said.
