JACKSON, Mich., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Consumers Power Company has signed a contract with Alpena Power Company for the sale of electricity over a 30-year period beginning in 1995. 
The contract provides competitive prices for Alpena Power on three types of service from Consumers Power including firm and non-firm options.  Initially Alpena Power is provided with 20 megawatts (MW) of firm power with the option of purchasing up to an additional 15 MW.  As a result of the contract, Alpena Power expects it will reduce its purchased power costs by approximately 15 percent from its existing wholesale contract.
