O'Connell & Aronowitz PC, a prominent Albany law firm, will appeal a court decision that awarded $3.7 million for attorney malpractice to the owners of a former hotel on Washington Avenue.
Jagadish and Pushpa Garg convinced a judicial hearing officer in state Supreme Court in Albany County that the firm was negligent in representing them in their efforts to fight foreclosure of the Albany Thruway House, which they bought in 1983. They sold the hotel to secured creditors in 1992 in what became a Chapter 7 bankruptcy court auction.
