DEAR HELOISE: This is for some people who have trouble mixing cookie dough with a hand mixer (or by hand -- H). I use my bread machine to mix the dough, and it is a lot faster and easier for me.
I cream the sugar and butter together in the machine, then just follow the recipe the rest of the way -- I use the dough cycle.
Be sure to scrape the sides of the pan often with a rubber spatula. You know how hard it is to mix all of the flour when it gets tough for the mixer to mix.
