ALBANY -- If Bobby Carpenter's maiden voyage as head coach of the Albany River Rats were a movie, it might look something like ``The Perfect Storm'' or ``Titanic.'' Yet Carpenter somehow has managed to keep both hands on the wheel while his ship has been sinking.
Even though the top affiliate for the New Jersey Devils has been a monumental flub in the AHL this season, Carpenter -- at least outwardly -- has remained undeterred. And he's done so by reminding himself of the Rats' primary mission -- to develop players.
