Jan. 16--A federal monitor appointed to investigate the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey says he still has about 30 open cases more than a year after beginning his work.
Former federal judge Herbert J. Stern said in a report yesterday that he hoped to end his investigations this year. Details of the open cases were taken out of the public version of his report, given to U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie.
Stern's latest revelation is that UMDNJ's trauma helicopter, NorthStar, might not meet Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The monitor began looking at the air ambulance after a tip that UMDNJ ...
