Since 1990, the Society for Women's Health Research (SWHR) has been sponsoring efforts to close gaps in research into the biological differences between men and women. Now the SWHR has launched the Organization for the Study of Sex Differences (OSSD) to examine biological differences in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Biological sex differences are a separate field of research, distinct from "gender-based" behavioral and cultural differences.
The OSSD will investigate the role that biological sex plays in all aspects of physiological functioning, hoping to improve the diagnosis and treatment of complex health conditions such as cancer, ...
