The Air Force says it intends to sponsor the flight demonstration of a proof-of-concept aircraft within the next three years that utilizes affordable lightweight composite structures and additional technologies applicable to the future short-takeoff-and-landing (STOL) cargo aircraft or family of mobility platforms that it eyes post 2020 for tactical roles.
