The Israeli chemical industry is what appears to be unquestionable success. Total sales for 1993 rose by 10.5 percent. to reach $4.67 billion. $1.89 billion of which came from exports. Pesticides, with $310 million sold, was the biggest export item, and mining intermediates, petrochemicals and pharmaceutical chemicals profits were next in line. But, did you ever think of how things would be much better if it were not for the Arab Boycott?
"In the past a few multi-national corporations set up subsidiaries in Israel, but they all left. After that we were denied full access to the knowledge acquired by the big corporations," says Yaacov Makov, director of Pazchem.
