PHILADELPHIA -- This is how it ends nearly every September, like a hurricane through my psyche. Hopes are shredded. Optimism is uprooted. Dark frustrations loom overhead.
When baseball people talk about legacies of losing, the Phillies are typically overlooked. There's nothing here as eerily compelling as Boston's Bambino curse or as lovable as the poor Chicago Cubbies.
The Phillies just lose. And why? It's nothing cosmic. Mainly, they just aren't good enough.
It's time the Phillies received equal billing with Boston and Chicago for their tarnished history.
