I want to commend the Guilderland School District for its recent open captioning of the high school graduation ceremony on June 21. As a hearing-impaired person who does not know sign language, being able to read what the speakers were saying on the large video screens was wonderful. It meant I was experiencing the graduation as everyone else did.
My youngest child was in the class of 2003. My oldest graduated in 2000. I remember feeling so left out at my son's graduation ceremony. I was there and could hear the speeches, but I couldn't understand what was being said. This time, I was able to follow all the speeches, ...
