Regret set in as soon as the words left my lips.
The question? ``Do you think you could help me make a wedding cake tomorrow?''
We were both just a couple of months out of cooking school, where I'd baked, assembled and decorated my first -- and until then, only -- wedding cake.
After enduring the cold-sweat intensity of what my culinary classmates called ``hell week,'' I vowed the devil's tail would freeze before I dared another wedding cake.
Like the institution of marriage itself, making a wedding cake is not for the faint of heart.
