NEW YORK -- World Trade Center survivors who escaped the burning north tower are being recruited to describe their last memories of the dead to help researchers learn why dozens of people below the airplane impact zone did not escape.

Letters went out last month to former Trade Center tenants asking them for contact information about their employees who survived the Sept. 11 attack.

Interviewers with the study, a collaborative effort by the city's health department and the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hope to begin collecting the personal accounts in May. The survey is one of several ...
