SYRACUSE -- In a move to ease some of the security pressure created by the 2001 terrorist attacks, Army National Guard soldiers will be deployed to all five New York air bases, officials said.
Citing security concerns, Scott Sandman, spokesman for the state Division of Military and Naval Affairs, declined to reveal specific details of the deployment when contacted Friday by The Associated Press. He said the troops could be activated in the next couple of weeks and will come from posts in Auburn, Batavia, Ithaca and Geneseo.
