Bruce Katz's reaction to his new car speaks volumes about the man and his philosophy. After months of delays, the metallic blue, state-of-the-art Mercedes Benz had finally arrived at the headquarters of the Rockport Co., Marlboro, Mass., where Katz is president. Barely containing his pleasure, Katz politely excused himself and hurried out to admire the car.
During a test drive, Katz pointed out details a casual observer would surely have missed. Only the passenger side's rear view mirror had electronic controls, he explained, because a driver can adjust his own mirror manually -- electronics would have been superfluous.
