Jan. 17--Barbaro's owners, Roy and Gretchen Jackson, and the Kentucky Derby winner's caretakers at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center will receive the 2006 Special Eclipse Award, the National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced yesterday.
The award, given by the National Turf Writers Association, the Daily Racing Form and the NTRA, recognizes outstanding contributions to thoroughbred racing. It will be presented during Monday's 36th annual Eclipse Awards dinner in Beverly Hills, Calif.
The Jacksons also are finalists for the Eclipse Awards for owner of the year and breeder of the year.
