NASSAU -- A lawyer for residents fighting a proposed graywacke rock mine off Route 66 in rural Dunham Hollow has urged town officials to alter their zoning laws to stop the mine.
And though the town could legally pursue that avenue, whether it will depends on elected officials seeing the mine as a tax boon or neighborhood bust.
``Some might say it will bring taxes to town but I don't see any benefits to the town and it will probably reduce property values in the neighborhood,'' said Town Board member Don Carpentier.
