Jan. 17--SPRING VALLEY -- A 53-year-old Spring Valley woman died this morning in an apparent accidental fire, according to the Fillmore County Sheriff's Department. Sheriff Daryl Jensen said authorities received a call about 2:30 a.m. today from a tenant in an apartment building near downtown Spring Valley. The tenant reported smoking coming from his furnace. Jensen said the Spring Valley fire department responded and found a smoldering fire in the adjacent apartment, where they discovered the woman's body. The State Fire Marshall's office is assisting in the investigation. Jensen said preliminary indications are the woman died of smoke inhalation. He said it ...
