Glenville As the man who bred and trained them was sent to prison from Orange County, nearly a dozen fighting dogs were being put to death the past two weeks at the Animal Protective Society's shelter on Maple Avenue.

``These were beautiful animals, but there's no way they could be adopted out,'' said Executive Director Gordon Willard.

The shelter has kept as many as 18 of the dogs, once owned by James Fricchione, as part of a security agreement with the animal shelter in Orange County. At one point, Fricchione and a friend broke into the shelter, trying to get back their animals, some of which were worth ...
