Article: THERAPY WITH FAMCICLOVIR MORE EFFECTIVE THAN VALACICLOVIR IN HERPES SIMPLEX VIRUS ANIMAL MODEL

 
ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- A new study shows that famciclovir is significantly more effective than valaciclovir (the prodrug of acyclovir) in reducing viral replication during treatment and also in suppressing viral replication following treatment in a mouse model designed to simulate herpes simplex virus infection in the immunocompromised patient.  The findings were presented today at the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC).
