THE TIME FOR ESCAPE COMES WHEN days are getting longer, but not fast enough. You know that eventually the snow will melt into the ground and grow cover for the next generation of pheasants and grouse, but al this will happen without your constant attention. You roll your mind in the good smells of the hunting season just past. You tell your spouse that the new pup's sixth month is a critical stage, during which she needs to stop pointing mice and start pointing real wild Gambel's quail.
