Sep. 2--Raymond Daikeler says he isn't sure which stunk worse -- the stench from the abandoned building next door or the inaction of the city's air management department.
"I tried to do what I thought was prudent and that was contact Philadelphia Air Management," said Daikeler, executive vice president for Unique Industries Inc.
The odor, he said, had gotten so bad, and air management's response so poor,
that Daikeler started planning to take his South Philadelphia company, and its 300 jobs, to New Jersey.
But that's when state Sen. Vince Fumo's office and another city agency, the Department of Licenses and Inspections, stepped in.
